Ridemate Legal & User Documentation

Driver & passenger terms, safety guidelines, regulatory compliance, privacy policy & terms of use for Zambia.

Important regulatory notice: Ridemate is a technology platform. Users remain responsible for complying with the Road Traffic Act, vehicle and driver licensing, passenger-transport, and insurance laws in Zambia.
1

Driver Terms

  • Drivers must provide accurate account, licence and vehicle information and complete applicable verification.
  • Drivers must provide accurate route, date, departure time, seats, fare and other material trip information.
  • Drivers are responsible for ensuring that their vehicle, driving licence, insurance, road service licence or other authorisations, and intended passenger-carrying activity comply with applicable Zambian laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Ridemate registration, verification, trip posting or connection does not itself authorise a driver to operate a public service vehicle or bypass any legal requirement.
  • Ridemate does not collect or hold the travel fare on behalf of drivers. Unless expressly stated otherwise in the app, travel fares are agreed and handled directly between driver and passenger.
  • Drivers must not harass, threaten, discriminate unlawfully, endanger passengers, provide false information, or use Ridemate for unlawful activity.
  • Drivers should promptly update or cancel trips they can no longer undertake.
  • Ridemate may suspend or remove accounts or trips for safety concerns, failed verification, false information, legal concerns or breaches of these terms.
2

Passenger Terms

  • Passengers must provide accurate registration and verification information and must not impersonate another person.
  • Passengers may search, communicate and negotiate before committing. A seat is treated as reserved only when the required connection process has been successfully completed as specified in the app.
  • Travel fares are agreed between passenger and driver and handled directly between them. Ridemate is not the carrier and does not hold the travel fare unless a future service expressly states otherwise.
  • Passengers must behave respectfully, follow reasonable safety instructions and must not carry prohibited or unlawful items.
  • Passengers should communicate cancellations or changes promptly.
  • Passengers may be required to provide identification or other information for verification and safety purposes.
3

Safety Guidelines

  • Review the driver profile, vehicle details, trip information and verification indicators before travelling.
  • Before entering the vehicle, confirm the vehicle and registration details shown in the app where available.
  • Use Ridemate live-location sharing with a trusted contact where available.
  • If the Ridemate panic feature is available, it may send an emergency alert and live location to Ridemate and designated trusted contacts. It does not replace emergency services.
  • Keep your phone charged, protect your account credentials and avoid travelling with a person or vehicle that does not match the information provided.
  • Report suspected fraud, unsafe conduct, harassment, impersonation, suspicious trips or other safety concerns through Ridemate support.
5

Privacy Policy

  • Ridemate may collect information such as name, phone number, email, National ID or verification information, driver's licence information, vehicle details and photographs, trip and booking information, messages, location information, trusted-contact information, device information and technical logs, depending on features used.
  • Personal data may be processed to create and secure accounts, verify users and vehicles, facilitate trips and parcel connections, provide safety features, support users, prevent fraud and abuse, improve the service, comply with legal obligations and send service-related notices.
  • Where location services are enabled, Ridemate may process location information for trip, tracking, safety and connection features.
  • Ridemate may disclose information where necessary to facilitate a requested connection, to service providers acting on its instructions, to verification or safety partners where applicable, or to competent authorities where required or permitted by law.
  • Ridemate will use appropriate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction or unlawful processing.
  • Personal data should be retained only as long as reasonably necessary for its purposes, legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security and legitimate business records.
  • Subject to applicable law, users may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing and other rights provided by Zambia's data-protection framework.

Terms of Use

  • By creating an account or using Ridemate, the user agrees to these Terms of Use and applicable policies.
  • Ridemate is a technology platform intended to facilitate connections between users. It is not automatically the driver, carrier, passenger, travel operator or owner of vehicles used by users.
  • Ridemate does not guarantee that a requested route, driver, passenger, vehicle, seat, fare or parcel connection will always be available or completed.
  • Users are responsible for the accuracy of information they submit, their conduct, legal compliance and decisions they make when travelling or connecting with another user.
  • Ridemate connection-fee arrangements, where applicable, are separate from travel fares agreed between driver and passenger. The app will display applicable payment requirements before commitment.
  • Users must not use Ridemate for unlawful activity, fraud, impersonation, harassment, unsafe conduct, unauthorised commercial activity, or attempts to circumvent verification or payment controls.
  • Ridemate software, branding, logos, text and original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
  • Ridemate may update these terms and policies as the platform, law or features change.
  • Ridemate may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, security or repeated violations.
